Finding Fanny

Sometimes the entire plot of a movie is in the title. Movies are termed 'different' by every actor usually. Sometimes melodrama can ruin the movie when it isn't required. (Mary Kom, anyone? )
But Finding Fanny is none of that!

This movie lives right upto your expectations. You go in expecting a comedy movie and come out after watching a really different, lively comedy movie. It is a laugh riot - you will enjoy it through and through - I did. Will watch it again this week most likely.

Now for the best parts. The cast!
Every character is well thought out of. Endearing. Multi-faceted. Evolving. In short, very real.

Naseeruddin Shah is brilliant. Period. The characters come together and set out to find his Fanny, his love who he's waited for for 46 years because a letter he had written back then wasn't posted at all to her. He manages to keep the child-like innocence all through the movie without coming across as stupid, even though he's supposed to be a 60+ year old in the movie.

Pankaj Kapoor is amazing. You expect him to be a con artist throughout, find him borderlining to evoking disgust - which is what his character was supposed to make us feel, yet in a final scene he does prove himself to be the 'artist' who was really just following his muse.

Deepika Padukone is beautiful, she has been evolving as an actress and this is probably her best act so far.
Arjun Kapoor does ok as the angry young man. I am still unsure of him as an actor. In my head he is this guy who has this controlled poker face and only allows emotions to show through sometimes. Or maybe he's just another John Abraham. That remains to be seen.
Dimple Kapadia with her obviously padded fanny, is the town's Lok Kalyan trust(LKT) always helping out. (Mostly when it isn't needed.)

The characters are all very real and blend into the plot effortlessly. I had a great time watching the movie after a really long time.
The only 'issue' I found was, the movie is set in goa, but the accent doesn't come off as Goan.
But otherwise, definitely a must watch!

Have you watched the movie yet? What did you think of it?

PS: The picture isn't mine. Google helped me find it.
